Sudak, a resort town on the south-east coast of Crimea, was founded in 212 by Alan tribes. The modern name of the city was formed by way of joining of two Turkic words: su – water, and dag – mountain. The word ‘Sudag’, as pronounced in Turkic manner, translates as ‘mountains near the water’. And, indeed, this is the place where the azure sea and majestic mountains meet. At the same time, in Sudak, there is no large elevation difference, as is typical of almost the entire South Coast of Crimea. The descent to the sea here is gentle and very convenient.
Modern Sudak is a famous Crimean resort with unique nature, gorgeous bays and beaches.
Traditionally, a beach holiday in Sudak also includes sightseeing tours, as the Sudak area is rich in local tourist attractions. For Sudak is one of the most ancient cities of Crimea and has a unique history and unique architectural landmarks. In and around the city, you will find many “must-see” places to visit.
